In 1998 they released their first demo, Yellow, as Sara and Tegan, followed by Orange and Red. They formed the band Plunk with just them in it, and recorded their first demo in Spring 1996 called Who's in Your Band, and then later on that year Play Day. Apparently Pretty on the Inside by Hole played a big part in them wanting to start a band. In the 90's when they were 15 they began to write and play there own songs together, there first song called "Tegan didn't go to school today". Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Kiersten Quin were born on the 19th September, 1980.
